to present the
2008 Penn Microfinance
Conference
Global
Assets: Local Access
The conference aims to raise student awareness about microfinance while
allowing students and professionals interested in the topic to engage the
industry's leading experts on various issues surrounding microfinance.
The conference this year will take place on April 18th from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M., located at the Penn Museum of Archeology and Anthropology, right on Penn's campus at 32nd and South
Streets in Philadelphia.
We are hosting a full day of learning and discussion for students interested in
international development and microfinance. Keynote addresses will be
given by:
Matthew Flannery, CEO & Founder, and Premal Shah, President,
of Kiva
Patrick Byrne, CEO of Overstock
Tracey Pettengill Turner, Founder of
MicroPlace
Rupert Scofield, Executive Director of FINCA International, and
Sam
Daley-Harris, Director of the Microcredit Summit Campaign.
In
addition, there will be panels and case studies featuring diverse and qualified
panelists to discuss the most pressing challenges and opportunities for the
microfinance community, including the commercialization of microfinance,
sustainability of its , and ethics.
We are also partnering with Kiva to host a reception after the conference from
5-6 PM at the Inn at Penn, located a few blocks from the Museum. Information
